- 3 1/2 C. all-purpose flour
- 1 packet brewer’s yeast
- 1/4 C. warm water
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. melted vegan butter
Heat water and sugar till just warm, mixing until the sugar dissolves.
Pour yeast onto the top of the water but don’t stir it in. Let it sit for 10 minutes, to activate the yeast.
Sift the flour into a large mixing bowl and stir in the salt.
Mix in the yeast combo until just combined. Flour the outside of the dough lightly and let sit, covered, 1 hour in a warm place.
Preheat the oven to 450 F.
Knead the dough 8-10 minutes, place in an oiled container, cover again, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
Place the dough in a greased and floured bread pan, slitting the top to prevent it cracking. Butter the top.
Cover in foil and bake 40 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
